Small Ideas for a Healthy Home Business and the Successful Entrepreneur!

God Owns Your Business!

“The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell therein.” –Psalm 24:1 (NKJV)

God created the heavens, the earth, and everything in it (Gen 1). This makes Him “the Boss.” For this reason, our actions in business should be governed by the principles God has laid out before us in His Word.

A Christian must understand this simple truth before he or she decides to start a home based business. This is very important because the main goal for a Christian in business is not to make profits, but to seek after and glorify God.

I read some interesting quotes in an article from Larry Burkett on the Crown Financial Ministries website. They were geared toward how others perceived you in your business. The quotes read as follows:

• "When people think of you, do they focus on your business success first or your visible image as a disciple of Christ?”
• "Do your employees and close business contacts know and respect your unwavering stand for the Lord and His principles?”

God created us in His own image to glorify Him. Therefore make it your business to glorify God and you will be blessed.

“And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.” – Luke 12:29-31 (NKJV)

God Is Directly Responsible For Your Success.

I only mention this because one might have the tendency to think that by their own actions they will succeed. To some degree this is true. God will reward those who are faithful to Him.

However, one only succeeds if it is God’s will to do so. This is why Christians must give their business to God. Your success depends on it! Don’t waste your most valuable asset (your time) by seeking after something that is not God’s will. It is not ideal for business.

So, instead of concentrating on being successful, we should be more concerned with:

• Being good stewards with what God has given us.
• Fulfilling God’s command to “serve one another in love”.

The Original Businessman

God is the Healer, the Comforter, the Judge, and our Savior. These are just a few among the many “hats” our God wears. However, I would like to propose that God is a Businessman also!

In fact, God is the Businessman. We would do well to follow the example of the One who created and set all the rules for work and business.
